Insulation Systems
3E uses several types of insulation systems, including:
VPI
is a process for treating new or existing windings utilizing a
combination of vacuum, pressure and heat to insure complete penetration
of the resin.
- epoxy based Vacuum Pressure Impregnation system
- polyester based dip & bake
- high temperature Nomex brand cell, phase & wedge insulation standard
Vacuum Pressure Impregnation (VPI)
VPI
is a process for treating new or existing windings utilizing a
combination of vacuum, pressure and heat to insure complete penetration
of the resin.
Premature failures can occur during normal
operation as motor windings are subjected to physical stress from
starting, vibration, contamination and thermal cycling. 3E's VPI
process provides a winding that will withstand the operating
environment. This process, along with epoxy resin, greatly increases
the mechanical strength and provides a virtually void-free winding that
helps to dissipate unwanted heat from the slot area of the iron core.
