Headquartered in Windsor Heights, Iowa, Electrical Engineering & Equipment Company, better known as 3E, is one of the nation’s leading independent electrical distributors.  From its modest beginning in Des Moines, Iowa in 1920 with six employees, 3E has since grown to over 280 employees whose training and dedication have helped bring 3E to the forefront in the industry. 

3E opened three distribution locations between 1995 and 2000 in Waterloo, Davenport, and Burlington.  Then in the twelve month period from June 2007 through May 2008 we added three distribution locations in Sioux City, Ottumwa, and Cedar Rapids.  With these additions 3E now features seven electrical distribution centers throughout Iowa. 

3E’s Des Moines office serves as the home of our Generator Sales, Service, and Rental, Electrical Apparatus Repair, and Steel Manufacturing Divisions.  The services and expertise offered by these three divisions and our seven distribution locations provide 3E customers with the products, services, and solutions to virtually all of their electrical applications.

The 3E Generator Division, which sells, services, and rents Kohler Standby Power Systems has had a longstanding relationship with Kohler throughout Iowa and western Illinois.  This relationship took a big step forward in October 2007 when Kohler awarded 3E the Nebraska and South Dakota territories.  3E’s Generator division now has offices in Des Moines, Davenport, Cedar Rapids, Sioux City, Sioux Falls, and Omaha. 

3E’s primary customers include electrical contractors, industrial plants, commercial organizations and utility companies. Our inventory is stocked with the products of leading manufacturers in the electrical industry including Square D, Lithonia Lighting, Hubbell Lighting, Ferraz Shawmut, Cooper Lighting, Pass & Seymour/Legrand, Uniprise and many more.
