Electrical Engineering & Equipment of Windsor Heights, Iowa announces agreement to acquire Electric Fixture & Supply of Omaha, Nebraska.
Windsor Heights, IA October 23, 2008 Electrical Engineering & Equipment Company (3E) today announced it has acquired Electric Fixture & Supply Company of Omaha, Nebraska. The acquisition of Electric Fixture & Supply, with its seven locations in Nebraska, doubles the company’s number of distribution locations and will position 3E as one of the nation’s top 50 electrical distributors.
Established in 1920, 3E has long been more than the typical electrical distributor. In addition to electrical supply, 3E’s Des Moines facility serves as the home for the electrical apparatus repair, custom steel fabrication, and generator sales, service & rental divisions.
3E consisted of the two locations in Des Moines until the original branch expansion efforts began in 1995 with the addition of three Iowa branches in Waterloo (1995), Davenport (1998), and Burlington (2000). In 2001 the company headquarters relocated from its home of over 40 years in downtown Des Moines to its new 100,000 sq/ft facility in suburban Windsor Heights. In May of 2007 3E began what was to be the largest period of growth in the company’s 88 year history. · May 2007: The Sioux City, Iowa distribution location opens serving northwest Iowa, southwest Minnesota, northeast Nebraska, and southeastern South Dakota.
· October 2007: Kohler Power Systems awards 3E the distributorship for Nebraska and South Dakota. This is in addition to the Iowa and western Illinois territory already served by the company.
· April 2008: The Ottumwa, Iowa distribution facility opens serving south central Iowa.
· May 2008: The Cedar Rapids, Iowa distribution facility opens serving Cedar Rapids and the surrounding area.
· October 2008: Acquisition of Electric Fixture & Supply, Omaha, NE.
Electric Fixture & Supply, which was established in 1932, has a long tradition of serving the Nebraska and western Iowa electrical contractor and industrial MRO markets. This joining of forces will strengthen both companies, provide improved synergies for the generator sales division, and add new products and services for the Nebraska industrial automation, OEM, and data/communication markets.
