Headquartered in Des Moines, 3E now has five electrical distribution centers throughout Iowa and a manufacturing/electrical apparatus repair division. We are excited to be expanding to the Sioux City area with our fifth electrical distribution center.  We currently have more than 250 employees whose training and dedication have helped bring 3E to the forefront in the industry.

3E’s primary customers include electrical contractors, industrial plants, commercial organizations and utility companies. Our inventory is stocked with the products of leading manufacturers in the electrical industry including Square D, Siemens, Lithonia Lighting, Ferraz Shawmut, Cooper Lighting, Pass & Seymour/Legrand and many more.

3E's Electrical Distribution division has become a leader in the electrical industry by serving electrical contractors, commercial and industrial companies and government agencies throughout Iowa and western Illinois. 3E's specialized departments are staffed with experienced personnel trained to assist our customers.

We are expanding to Cedar Rapids and have an immediate opening for Outside Automation Sales.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

• Professionally and ethically represent 3E while selling Automation products

• Work independently under the guidance of sales management.

• Travel through assigned territory to call on existing and prospective customers promoting automation products.

• Must have knowledge of automation products including: PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, sensors, motion, vision, and other “high tech” product lines.

• Analyze customer’s electrical needs and recommend equipment required.

• Display or demonstrate automation products, using samples or catalog and emphasize salable features.

• Prepare reports of business transactions and keep expense accounts.

• Enter new customer data and other sales data for current customers into computer database.

• Develop and maintain customer relationships with purchasing, engineering, maintenance and management.

• Investigate and resolve customer problems.

• Effectively use productivity enhancement tools such as cell phones, email, etc.

• Have the ability to learn new product lines and effectively demonstrate products to customers.

Education and/or Experience

•  College degree or equivalent work experience a plus.   

• Previous outside automation sales experience a plus.

• Must possess excellent communication skills.

A valid drivers license and proof of insurance is required.
