Electrical Engineering & Equipment Company, 3E, is an independent electrical distributor, steel fabricator, generator sales, service and rental center and an electrical apparatus repair shop. This diversification has led 3E to become one of the leading electrical distributors in the Midwest.

Headquartered in Des Moines, 3E now has five electrical distribution centers throughout central and eastern Iowa and a manufacturing/electrical apparatus repair division. We are excited to be expanding to the Sioux City area with our fifth electrical distribution center.  We currently have more than 250 employees whose training and dedication have helped bring 3E to the forefront in the industry.

3E’s primary customers include electrical contractors, industrial plants, commercial organizations and utility companies. Our inventory is stocked with the products of leading manufacturers in the electrical industry including Square D, Siemens, Lithonia Lighting, Ferraz Shawmut, Cooper Lighting, Pass & Seymour/Legrand and many more.

 

3E's Electrical Distribution division has become a leader in the electrical industry by serving electrical contractors, commercial and industrial companies and government agencies throughout Iowa and western Illinois. 3E's specialized departments are staffed with experienced personnel trained to assist our customers. We are expanding to Cedar Rapids and have immediate opening for Counter Sales.

Primary Role: Act as a customer service representative for 3E.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interface politely and professionally with both walk in and call in customers. 
  • Interpret customer needs and place orders in system for appropriate material. 
  • Provide customer service duties relating to the customer orders, such as expediting orders, checking on orders, and following up on orders. 
  • Receive returns brought back from customers and prepare paperwork to company’s quality system requirements. 
  • Perform cash and credit card transactions including handling money and making change.  Answer customer questions relating to products we stock.
  • Maintain a relationship with Supplier partners. 
  • Understand and use the resources available from suppliers to help meet customer’s needs.
  • Maintain a positive attitude while working with customers and fellow associates to contribute to a good working environment for all.

    Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a clean organized retail environment at the city counter. 
  • Set up & maintain merchandizing displays provided by vendor, located in the show room. 
  • Display marketing announcements for supplier programs run at the branch.
  • Attend Sales and Training meetings as directed by management.
  • Help with trade shows, customer training and other customer events when needed.
  • Follow company quality system guidelines and employee manual guidelines.
  • Be a strong team member; help other departments when possible.
  • Pick orders periodically for will call and wait customers. 
Job Qualifications:
  • Neat appearance
  • Polite Demeanor
  • Good telephone etiquette
  • Basic understanding of products and applications, computer inventory system and warehouse. 3 years in warehouse or equivalent educational experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
Requirements:
  • Commit to completing the Bronze level of EPEC self study sales training. EPEC must be completed in 8 months. The first (3) modules must be completed before moving to the counter.
  • Agree to take a “Profile Assessment” test.
